Goldman Sachs Group Inc. is set to enter the Swiss mortgage lending market in 2019, finews reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Executives of the U.S. investment bank in Switzerland have been in contact with the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority ahead of a plan to bolster the firm's mortgage business later in 2019, according to the Aug. 22 report. Goldman Sachs was said to be close to entering the market in the autumn of 2018.
The group, which began its mortgage lending operations in the Netherlands in 2015, previously said it could expand the business in other European markets, the news agency noted, adding that the bank could adapt its offering in the country to the Swiss market.
