NRG Energy Inc. on Oct. 18 said it launched a new plan that simplifies the traditional renewable energy procurement process into a cost-competitive one.

The Renewable Select plan provides a standard contract in which customers can procure wind and solar energy in the amount desired without entering into a long-term power purchase agreement, the company said in a news release.

The plan offers a single consolidated bill, instead of multiple bills by electricity source. It allows customers to identify the physical location of the renewable source where their electricity is produced and gives them the opportunity to receive naming rights.
