KP Tissue Q4 loss widens 46.8% YOY

KP Tissue Inc. said its normalized net income for the fourth quarter was a loss of 15 Canadian cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 25 cents per share.

The per-share loss grew 44.6% year over year from 11 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of C$1.4 million, compared with a loss of C$947,500 in the prior-year period.

Reported net income came to a loss of C$408,000, or a loss of 4 cents per share, compared to a loss of C$27.8 million, or a loss of C$3.10 per share, in the year-earlier period.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled C$77,500, compared with a loss of C$-3.4 million in the prior year.

The company said reported net income came to a loss of C$1.7 million, or a loss of 19 cents per share, in the full year, compared with a loss of C$31.3 million, or a loss of C$3.52 per share, the prior year.
