TOP NEWS

* The Court of Justice of the European Union ruled that Google LLC is not by default required to de-reference results on a global scale in relation to the "right to be forgotten" rule. The ruling is in response to French data protection authority CNIL's implementation of a €100,000 fine on the Alphabet Inc. unit in 2016 for refusing to adhere to a request to delist search results outside of Europe.

* German software company TeamViewer AG priced its IPO at €26.25 per share, valuing its total market capitalization at €5.25 billion. TeamViewer expects a free float of 42.0% if the greenshoe option in the listing is fully exercised.

* Viacom Inc.'s ad-funded streaming service Pluto TV is expanding its footprint in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and the U.K., through an Android app available on Google's Play Store and on Android-compatible TV devices, Advanced Television reports.

UK AND IRELAND

* U.K. digital terrestrial TV platform Freeview added the new Channelbox streaming service to its over-the-top roster, Advanced Television reports. Channelbox offers access to free-to-air channels of different genres and languages.

* The British Broadcasting Corp. will make its voice assistant Beeb available globally, Broadband TV News reports. The public broadcaster will also launch content platforms on its website, namely wellness-focused BBC Future You and sustainability-themed BBC Future Planet.

GERMANY, SWITZERLAND AND AUSTRIA

* Media Broadcast GmbH signed a four-year agreement with Deutsche Telekom AG to roll out the MagentaSport offering on Telekom's MagentaTV service, Telecompaper reports. Media Broadcast will supply the MagentaTV broadcasting center with signals.

* Deutsche Telekom plans to expand its 5G network for the industry by partnering with supplier Ericsson. The company struck additional partnerships with EK Automation, Konica Minolta and Endress+Hauser to integrate their technologies into its 5G infrastructure.

FRANCE

* The French government will present the second part of its reforms on public broadcasting, which will affect France Télévisions SA, Radio France, France Médias Monde and Arte, Les Echos reports. A holding company will reportedly be created, and the CEO will be appointed by its board of directors.

* Iliad SA's Free launched a new 4G+ box that offers ultrafast internet access for subscribers in non-fiber areas where landline internet speeds are slow but 4G+ service is good.

* Altice France SA's SFR announced the arrival of fiber services in Vermelles with 1,800 housing units able to connect from a total goal of 2,235 homes and business premises. The construction of the network and the installation of connection points will end in December.

* Canal Plus SA launched a miniature version of the Canal + decoder, which allows subscribers to benefit from its offers in every room of the home without cabling constraints.

* Eutelsat Communications SA's ELO constellation project, which will offer global internet of things coverage, is expected to launch between 2020 and 2021. The first four satellites will enter commercial service as soon as they are delivered into orbit and if successful, a total of 25 satellites will be operational by 2022.

NETHERLANDS, BELGIUM AND LUXEMBOURG

* KPN NV improved the new Digitenne in DVB-T2 /HEVC for better reception in the Dutch province of Zeeland, TotaalTV reports. This reportedly includes the uncoded channel offer consisting of TV and radio channels from the national public broadcaster NPO and regional broadcasters Omroep Zeeland and Rijnmond.

* VodafoneZiggo's turnover in the Dutch business telecom market fell by 2.6% in the second quarter to €588 million, due to continued price pressure on most services, Emerce reports.

* Online cinema Pathé Thuis will start a campaign in the autumn on the network of Talpa to profile itself better in the Netherlands, Emerce reports. Pathé at home reportedly wants to collaborate with Talpa because the company doesn’t have a permanent customer payment relationship.

* The Netherlands invested €1 million in a worldwide program for improvements in cybersecurity, Tweakers reports. Foreign Affairs Minister Stef Blok reportedly makes the money available for a contribution to the Digital Development Partnership of the World Bank, which is intended to help other countries to "create a safe, free and open internet."

NORDIC COUNTRIES

* Nokia Corp. said it opened a 5G Future X Lab at its global headquarters in Espoo, Finland. The new lab will help the company's customers experience Nokia's full end-to-end portfolio of 5G equipment, software and services.

* Atea ASA reached a deal to acquire DatabaseForum AS, a Stavanger, Norway-based data analytics and business intelligence firm. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Atea's growing data analytics solutions business.

* Modern Times Group AB completed a $250,000 investment in Boston-headquartered video gaming producer Mightier Games Inc. The investment was made through MTG's venture capital fund.

* Elisa Oyj said it launched affordable 5G voice and broadband subscriptions to private and corporate customers. The offering provides speeds of up to 300 Mbps on 4G and 5G networks.

* Norwegian telecom regulator Nkom welcomed the EFTA Surveillance Authority's approval of Norwegian state support to build a new subsea cable. The government allocated 100 million Norwegian kroner to the project, which aims to reduce security vulnerabilities in communications with foreign countries.

SOUTHERN EUROPE

* Italian state-controlled defense group Leonardo SpA is eyeing partnerships with small cybersecurity companies with "interesting technologies," Reuters reports, quoting company CEO Alessandro Profumo.

* Viacom unit Viacom International Media Networks named Simone Fenu senior director of licensing and consumer products for Italy and Greece, effective immediately, Advanced Television reports.

EASTERN EUROPE

* Czech investment group PPF Group NV is the last remaining bidder for broadcaster Central European Media Enterprises Ltd. from AT&T Inc., Reuters reports, quoting hlidacipes.org. The U.S. carrier is reportedly seeking about 47 billion Czech koruny for CME.

* Russian direct-to-home operator Orion launched hybrid broadcast broadband TV services on three thematic channels operated by Mediamart, Broadband TV News reports, citing Telecom Daily.

* Viacom International Media Networks is rolling out a localized version of the Nicktoons channel in the Czech Republic in October, Advanced Television reports.
