Amazon opens 1st corporate office in northern UK, creating 600 jobs

Amazon.com Inc. on Jan. 16 opened its first corporate office in northern U.K., which will house more than 600 new employees.

The company said it is hiring for technical and corporate roles for software developers, solutions architects, applied scientists, brand and business development specialists, and finance analysts across Amazon and Amazon Web Services.

The Seattle-based e-commerce company will operate from the century-old Hanover Building in Manchester. The corporate office covers six floors spanning 90,000 square feet.

The company had 19 open corporate roles in Manchester as of Jan. 15, including for sales manager, tax analyst and AWS architect positions.

"We are already actively hiring," Amazon U.K. Country Manager Doug Gurr reportedly said in a statement.

The Manchester office is the latest addition to Amazon's growing presence in the U.K.
