The French coastguard on Jan. 31 ended its search for missing Boardriders Inc. CEO and Director Pierre Agnes, Reuters reported Feb. 1, citing local authorities.
The news comes a day after Agnes' empty boat was found ashore on the country's Atlantic coast. Authorities conducted a sea search with four helicopters and two boats after finding the boat near the surfing resort of Hossegor, the report said.
Boardriders issued a statement the day Agnes went missing, saying it was concentrating on working with local authorities on the search and rescue effort and supporting Agnes' family.
The surfwear company, which owns brands like Roxy and Quiksilver, signed an agreement to acquire Australia's Billabong International Ltd. earlier this month.
