We Energies to expand smart meter contract with Landis+Gyr

We Energies plans to expand the deployment of advanced metering infrastructure through an agreement with Landis+Gyr.

The WEC Energy Group Inc. subsidiary plans to extend advanced meters to approximately 508,000 electric customers. The contract will build on the deployment of the AMI systems by Landis+Gyr in 2018 to about half of We Energies' electric customer base, according to a March 13 news release.

In 2018, Landis+Gyr contracted with We Energies' sister company, Wisconsin Public Service Corp., for an 800,000 meter deployment covering the utility's electricity and gas customers.
