Dentsply Sirona to buy 3-D design software maker

Dentsply Sirona Inc. agreed to buy privately held OraMetrix Inc., which uses 3-D design software to make products for treating malpositioned teeth and jaws.

The companies did not disclose the financial details of the acquisition.

Dentsply, a maker of dental implants and surgical devices, expects to close the deal in the second quarter of 2018 and is planning further investments in OraMetrix's technologies and services, which will be slightly dilutive to its overall earnings per share in 2018 and 2019.

OraMetrix is profitable and had about $20 million in revenues, the York, Pa.-based company added.

Bryan Cave LLP is serving as legal adviser to Dentsply Sirona.

Leerink Partners LLC is serving as financial adviser to OraMetrix, while Haynes and Boone LLP is acting as the legal adviser.
