Complaint over CU's website accessibility voluntarily dismissed

A lawsuit claiming that the website of BCM FCU was in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act has been voluntarily dismissed, with prejudice.

The Cornerstone Credit Union League and the Credit Union National Association had earlier come to Houston-based BCM's defense, filing a joint amicus brief to get the court to dismiss the case. The plaintiff is a California firm, which filed several such cases against other Texas credit unions. Many of the cases have also been dismissed.

In 2017, a number of Virginia credit unions were sued over websites that were allegedly inaccessible to the visually impaired. CUNA is prioritizing the issue of how the Disabilities Act applies to websites.
