John Johns will resign as Protective Life Corp.'s executive chairman, effective Nov. 4.

His resignation is not the result of any disagreement with the company on any matter relating to the company's operations, policies or practices, according to a regulatory filing.

Johns will continue as chairman of DLI North America Inc., which like Protective is a subsidiary of Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc.
