Bangladesh's Ministry of Finance has dismissed two directors of Janata Bank Ltd. before the completion of their term, The Daily Star reported Oct. 8, citing Abdus Salam Azad, managing director of the bank.
Manik Chandra Dey and Md. Abdul Haque were removed from their roles amid Janata Bank's alleged involvement in controversies relating to 83 billion taka of loans granted to business conglomerates Crescent Group and AnonTex Group.
Azad said the lender is not aware of the reason the two directors were abruptly dismissed.
As of Oct. 8, US$1 was equivalent to 83.79 Bangladeshi taka.
