Itron Inc. will deploy its fifth-generation smart electric network in three cities in Brazil, served by utility Elektro Redes SA, according to a Nov. 13 news release.
The project is part of Elektro's grid modernization program, which includes replacing 40,000 conventional meters with smart meters in Atibaia, Nazaré Paulista and Bom Jesus dos Perdões, Sao Paulo state. The meters will be smart meters by Eletra, which is one of Itron's authorized sales partners.
Elektro is a subsidiary of Neoenergia SA.
