Lawson Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 31 was ¥142.53 per share, a gain of 8.3% from ¥131.58 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥14.26 billion, a gain of 8.3% from ¥13.17 billion in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 11.4% from 10.2% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue decreased on an annual basis to ¥124.80 billion from ¥128.70 billion, and total operating expenses fell 5.4% from the prior-year period to ¥101.60 billion from ¥107.38 billion.
Reported net income increased 7.9% from the prior-year period to ¥12.79 billion, or ¥127.82 per share, from ¥11.85 billion, or ¥118.43 per share.
As of Oct. 8, US$1 was equivalent to ¥108.27.
