Extratropical cyclone Friederike, which hit the British Isles, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18, caused insured property-market losses of €1.47 billion, according to PERILS AG's initial loss estimate for it.

The storm, also known as David, resulted in the deaths of eight people in Germany, three in the Netherlands and one in Belgium, the Zurich-based catastrophe insurance data provider said.

Perils will release an updated estimate on losses from the cyclone April 17.
