U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson's brother Jo Johnson resigned as a member of Parliament and a minister.
"In recent weeks I've been torn between family loyalty and the national interest — it's an unresolvable tension," said the state minister for universities, science, research and innovation and MP for Orpington.
The resignation comes as the U.K. House of Commons dealt a blow to the prime minister by approving legislation to stop an abrupt no-deal Brexit next month and instead seek another delay to the U.K.'s departure from the European Union.
