Pakistan's government has dismissed the heads of four banks and named acting heads for three of them, The Nation reported Oct. 16, citing a notification issued by the country's finance ministry.
The government dismissed Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd. President and CEO Syed Talat Mahmood and appointed Sheikh Aman Ullah as acting president and CEO.
Meanwhile, Tahira Raza was terminated as president and CEO of First Women Bank Ltd., with Naushaba Shahzad taking over as acting head. Dilshad Ali Ahmad was named acting president and CEO of SME Bank Ltd., replacing Ihsan Ul Haq Khan, who was dismissed.
In addition, Saeed Ahmad was terminated as president and CEO of National Bank of Pakistan. Ahmad is currently suspended over his alleged involvement in a money laundering case.
Further, the government also dismissed State Bank of Pakistan deputy governors Jameel Ahmed and Shamsul Hasan, as well as Competition Commission of Pakistan Chairperson Vadiya Khalil and commission members Shahzad Ansar and Muhammad Saleem.
