VRX Silica Ltd. estimated a maiden resource for its Arrowsmith Central prospect, part of the Arrowsmith silica sand project in Western Australia, according to a Dec. 13 release.
The project hosts an inferred resource of 28 million tonnes at 97.7% silicon dioxide. The estimate is based on results obtained from 39 hand-auger drill holes for 98.6 meters and defines the modelled silica sand layer.
VRX said that additional drilling is planned for early 2019 with the company having recently completed an extensive Aboriginal Heritage survey with representatives of the Southern Yamatji claimant group for a more intensive and wider ranging drill program.
Previously, VRX received letters of intent from three Asian buyers for total off-take of 590,000 tonnes per year of silica sand from its Arrowsmith and Muchea operations.
