Kroll affirms ratings of Southern National Bancorp of Virginia, unit

Kroll Bond Rating Agency affirmed the senior unsecured debt rating of BBB, subordinated debt rating of BBB- and short-term debt rating of K3 for McLean, Va.-based Southern National Bancorp of Virginia Inc.

The rating agency also affirmed the deposit and senior unsecured debt ratings of BBB+, subordinated debt rating of BBB, and short-term deposit and debt ratings of K2 for the company's unit, Sonabank.

The outlook for all long-term ratings is stable.

Among the factors Kroll considered in the ratings are Southern National Bancorp's "continued improving asset quality trends," with lower levels of nonperforming assets and a sustained marginal net charge-off ratio.
