Service Corp. International said its third-quarter normalized net income was 24 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 26 cents per share.
EPS climbed 14.5% year over year from 21 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $48.1 million, a gain of 10.7% from $43.5 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 6.7% from 6.1% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue came to $721.5 million, compared with $714.5 million in the year-earlier period, and total operating expenses totaled $605.4 million, compared with $600.5 million in the prior-year period.
Reported net income came to $47.7 million, or 24 cents per share, compared to $47.5 million, or 23 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
