Facebook Inc. is rolling out its pattern recognition software to other countries in a bid to help prevent suicides, Reuters reported Nov. 27, citing Guy Rosen, Facebook's vice president for product management.
The social networking giant started testing the artificial intelligence software in the U.S. in March. The software scans text of posts and comments of phrases that may indicate a suicidal tendency.
Once detected, the software alerts a team at Facebook that is specialized in handling such reports. The workers can sometimes inform local authorities, according to the report.
