Pine Bluff, Ark.-based Simmons Bank appointed Franklin Shirrell chief retail officer.

Shirrell joins from Birmingham, Ala.-based Regions Financial Corp., where he was executive vice president and head of the consumer and business banking units in the Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and Austin, Texas, markets.

Jason Belcher, senior vice president and chief risk officer of Bluefield, Va.-based First Community Bank, is set to resign on or about Sept. 30, to assume a management role with his family business.

Belcher is also a named executive officer of parent First Community Bancshares Inc.

May 15

First Bankers Trustshares Inc. Chairman Don Gnuse has retired from the company's board.

William Daniels, who has been a director of the Quincy, Ill.-based company since 1989, will succeed Gnuse.

Fairmont, W.Va.-based MVB Bank Inc. appointed Steve Braden executive vice president and chief retail banking officer.

Braden previously was executive vice president and head of retail banking of Dubuque, Iowa-based Heartland Financial USA Inc.

J. Douglas Cheatham was appointed executive vice president and CFO of Springfield, Ill.-based Town and Country Bank.

Cheatham previously held the same positions at Aurora, Ill.-based Old Second Bancorp Inc.

Columbia, Tenn.-based First Farmers and Merchants Bank appointed Jason Redd chief audit officer.

Redd previously was CFO of Tullahoma, Tenn.-based Southern Community Bank.

Montreal-based National Bank of Canada appointed Manuel Morales chief scientist for artificial intelligence.

Morales is an associate professor in the department of mathematics and statistics at Université de Montréal.

Robert Llorens was named executive vice president and chief lending officer of La Jolla, Calif.-based CalPrivate Bank, a subsidiary of Private Bancorp of America Inc.

Llorens previously was chief credit officer of Plaza Bank, which was sold in 2017.

May 13

Once the deal between Houston-based Cadence Bancorp. and Atlanta-based State Bank Financial Corp. closes, three State Bank directors will join the boards of Cadence Bancorp. and unit Cadence Bank NA.

State Bank Chairman Joe Evans will become vice chairman of Cadence Bancorp., while State Bank Vice Chairman Tom Wiley will serve as chairman of Cadence Bank and a director of Cadence Bancorp.

May 11

Brockton, Mass.-based HarborOne Bancorp Inc (MHC) promoted Joseph Casey to president and COO. He previously was executive vice president, COO, CFO and treasurer.

Upon Casey's appointment, Linda Simmons took over as CFO. Simmons has been CFO of the company's unit HarborOne Bank (MHC) since May 2017.

Michael Sullivan was elected chairman of the board of Brockton, Mass.-based HarborOne Mutual Bancshares and unit HarborOne Bancorp and HarborOne Bank.

Sullivan, who has been a board member since 2015, succeeded Timothy Lynch.

Cranbury, N.J.-based 1st Constitution Bancorp appointed Naqi Naqvi senior vice president and chief accounting officer.

Naqvi was formerly executive vice president and CFO of New Jersey Community Bank, which was acquired by 1st Constitution in April.

May 10

Lafayette, La.-based MidSouth Bank NA named Keith Avant executive vice president and chief credit officer. He previously worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Further, MidSouth Bancorp Inc. and its unit will be seeking regulatory approval to appoint John Davis executive vice president and COO. Davis will join MidSouth Bank on May 29 and will serve in a nonexecutive capacity until regulators approve his appointment. In the meantime, President and CEO James McLemore will assume Davis' role.

Davis previously worked at Statesville, N.C.-based Yadkin Bank, where he was senior vice president and director of operations.

Robert Hampton was appointed executive vice president and chief credit officer of Arp, Texas-based American State Bank, a unit of Steele Holdings Inc.

Hampton previously was executive vice president and senior credit officer of Pilot Point, Texas-based Pointbank.

SB One Bank named Vito Giannola senior executive vice president and chief banking officer.

Giannola previously was executive vice president and chief retail officer of the Rockaway, N.J.-based bank.

Garden City Park, N.Y.-based Hanover Community Bank appointed Denise Chardavoyne executive vice president and chief retail and information officer.

Chardavoyne previously was executive vice president and chief information officer of New York-based Amalgamated Bank.

Jeffrey Coy retired as a director of Shippensburg, Pa.-based Orrstown Financial Services Inc. and unit Orrstown Bank.

Coy has been vice chairman of both boards since 1998.
