Barminco secures A$700M mining services deal for AngloGold's Sunrise Dam mine

Barminco Holdings Pty Ltd said Sept. 7 that it was awarded a five-year contract extension, worth approximately A$700 million, to provide underground mining services at AngloGold Ashanti Ltd.'s Sunrise Dam gold mine in Western Australia.

The South African gold miner and the mining services provider have teamed up at the project since the start of its underground operations in 2003.

In late June, AngloGold completed the commissioning of the recovery enhancement project at Sunrise Dam, which will allow the mine to sustain long-term gold production output of between 300,000 and 350,000 ounces.

Ausdrill Ltd., in August, agreed to purchase Barminco in a A$271.5 million deal.
