Report: Jubilant FoodWorks trials Chinese fast-food brand in India

India-based restaurant operator Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd. is conducting a trial of its first independent venture, a fast-food brand called The Chinese Kitchen, The Economic Times of India reported Oct. 31, citing two people familiar with the matter.

This will be the third restaurant brand for Jubilant, which already serves as the franchisee for Domino's Pizza Inc. and Dunkin' Brands Group Inc.'s Dunkin' Donuts in India.

The Chinese Kitchen is being tested at a location in New Delhi, the report said. One source told the newspaper that the quick-service Chinese cuisine brand is developing as Jubilant aims to grow its operations after scaling back its Dunkin' Donuts store count and also said the company has been looking into acquisitions.

A Jubilant spokesperson declined to comment to The Economic Times about the matter.

This comes shortly after Jubilant said PepsiCo Inc. will be the new beverage partner for its Domino's operations, ending a 20-year partnership with Coca-Cola Co.
