Bougainville rejects RTG Mining's Panguna copper project development proposal

The Autonomous Bougainville Government rejected a proposal by RTG Mining Inc. and development partner Special Mining Lease Osikaiyang Landowners Association, or SMLOLA, for the Panguna copper project.

In June 2017, SMLOLA, the group comprising Panguna landowners, picked RTG as its partner for redeveloping the mine, which had been closed for almost 25 years.

RTG said in a March 12 statement that it will consult with SMLOLA regarding the next steps.
