Volkswagen AG's unit Porsche Automobil Holding SE on June 1 said it would temporarily limit the number of models sold in Europe during the transition to new laboratory test standards for emissions and fuel consumption, Reuters reported.
The revised standard would allow testing to be extended to ultrafine particles released from a new generation of gasoline direct injection engines, which, according to European Union data, can cause premature deaths, the report said.
The expected start date of new standard testing is Sept. 1, Reuters said.
