Report: Chile's BancoEstado set to accept minimum services ruling

Banco del Estado de Chile is set to become the country's first bank to halt court proceedings against the Labor Directorate over its ruling of the percentage of workers that can be maintained during strikes, La Tercera reported.

The news comes after BancoEstado's workers decided not to file an appeal with the Supreme Court, which means that the Chilean state-run bank will effectively accept the directorate's decision to allow it to maintain 11.5% of its workers for minimum banking services in case of a strike.

That equates to 1,173 employees that can be maintained in 118 branches, but BancoEstado had previously requested 16% of the staffing to be available in those circumstances.

Meanwhile, Banco de Chile, is reportedly still contesting the Labor Directorate's ruling before courts. According to La Tercera, its case is now with the Constitutional Court of Chile.
