Another US agency to investigate fatal Tesla crash

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will investigate a fatal Tesla Inc. crash near Mountain View, Calif., Reuters reported March 28, citing a spokeswoman for the auto safety regulator.

The news comes after an announcement of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, or NTSB, of an investigation into the same crash.

According to Bloomberg News, the driver of the car died after it hit a barrier and caught fire March 23. The NTSB posted a news flash on its Twitter account March 27, noting that it is "unclear" whether the vehicle's automated control system, known as Autopilot, was engaged at the time of the crash.

Moody's recently downgraded Tesla's corporate family rating to B3 from B2 and unsecured note rating to Caa1 from B3.

Tesla's stock price was down 8.70% to $255.07 as of 3:12 p.m. ET on March 28.
