UK's Sky re-registers as private company, changes name

British pay TV company Sky PLC on Dec. 19 changed its name to Sky Ltd., following its re-registration as a private limited company.

The changes follow the completion of Sky's acquisition by Comcast Corp. The U.S. cable giant purchased Sky at £17.28 per share after beating a rival £15.67 per-share offer from 21st Century Fox Inc. and Walt Disney Co. in a rare auction process by the U.K.'s Panel on Takeovers and Mergers.
