Kajima fiscal Q1 profit climbs 49.9% YOY

Kajima Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 came to ¥28.92 per share, a gain of 50.0% from ¥19.29 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥30.02 billion, an increase of 49.9% from ¥20.03 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 7.5% from 5.1% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased year over year to ¥400.83 billion from ¥390.65 billion, and total operating expenses came to ¥356.89 billion, compared with ¥360.28 billion in the year-earlier period.

Reported net income increased 65.6% from the prior-year period to ¥34.03 billion, or ¥32.79 per share, from ¥20.56 billion, or ¥19.80 per share.

As of Aug. 8, US$1 was equivalent to ¥110.77.
