The National Cable Television Cooperative Inc. entered into separate deals with Philo Inc. and news networks provider Cheddar Inc. to offer the former's over-the-top streaming video service and the latter's live business news network to over 750 cable and broadband providers under NCTC membership.
Philo's streaming service currently has more than 40 cable channels in its catalog. NCTC members will be able to launch Cheddar as a linear channel, along with an optional video-on-demand library.
For NCTC member operators that offer high-speed data, their subscribers will be able access Cheddar through its website and apps in the coming months by entering their cable credentials. The business news network may also be accessed via the Cheddar app on mobile devices and select IP-enabled set-top boxes later this year.
NCTC members collectively serve more than 8 million subscribers.
Philo launched its live TV streaming service in November 2017, while Cheddar recently launched its live news network for students.
