Del Monte recalls under-processed canned corn

Del Monte Foods Inc. is recalling 64,242 cases of its Fiesta Corn Seasoned with Red & Green Peppers, saying the products were under-processed.

The company said the products did not go through the commercial sterilization process, which could lead them to be contaminated with spoilage organisms or pathogens. This could then lead to fatal illnesses if consumed, Del Monte said.

The recall includes 15.25 oz. Fiesta Corn cans with UPC number 24000 02770 that have best-before dates of Aug. 14, 2021; Aug. 15, 2021; Aug 16, 2021; Sept. 3, 2021; Sept. 4, 2021; Sept. 5, 2021; Sept. 6, 2021; Sept. 22, 2021; and Sept. 23, 2021.

The canned corn products were distributed to multiple retailers, including Walmart Inc., in 25 states and 12 international locations.

Del Monte said there have been no reports so far of illnesses linked to the products.

The company urged affected customers to return the items to their place of purchase for a full refund or exchange.
