Japan's producer price index up 0.3% in September

Japan's producer price index climbed 0.3% month over month to 102.0 in September after remaining unchanged in August, preliminary data from the Bank of Japan showed.

On an annual basis, the index was up 3.0% in September, the same increase as that in the prior month.

Excluding extra charges for summer electricity, the index was up 0.2% in September, after remaining unchanged in August.

On a contract currency basis, the export price index rose 0.2% month over month to 102.5 in September following a revised decrease of 0.2% in August, while the import price index edged up 0.1% to 108.0 following a revised 0.4% dip in the previous month.
