Power and utilities analyst Julien Dumoulin-Smith departs UBS

One of the sell-side analyst community's most recognizable power and utilities names, Julien Dumoulin-Smith, has left his post at UBS Securities LLC.

Dumoulin-Smith, who headed UBS' electric utilities, alternative energy and independent power producer equity research coverage, will move to Bank of America Merrill Lynch to head the bank's current power and electric utilities equity research group in New York starting in August, SparkSpread first reported on June 6.

The move comes as BAML seeks to expand its power and utilities banking franchise, with SparkSpread noting the bank's recent hiring of Ahmad Masud as co-head of power and renewables investment banking for the Americas, and former global head of power at Credit Suisse AG.
