Canadian Solar sells 68-MW Mexican solar facility to BlackRock

Canadian Solar Inc. completed the sale of an operational solar facility in Mexico to BlackRock Inc.'s BlackRock Infrastructure Fund II for undisclosed financial terms.

The 68-MWp Aguascalientes plant project started operating in January. The facility sells electricity under a 15-year contract and the clean energy certificates under a 20-year contract with Mexico's state-owned utility.

The company will provide operations and maintenance services to the plant, starting in the third year of operations, according to a May 23 news release.

"We have a remaining pipeline of more than 600 MWp of solar projects in the country at various stages of development, including 368 MWp with awarded power purchase agreements," Canadian Solar Chairman and CEO Shawn Qu said.
