The Defense Logistics Agency of the Department of Defense has awarded United States Antimony Corp. a US$510,528 grant to establish a new domestic source of antimony trisulfide as an alternative to Chinese supply.
The company said Sept. 16 that the project operating period will be from Sept. 13 to Sept. 12, 2020, within which the company will deliver six batches of block trisulfide from Montana to Perkins Rouge and Paint.
The grant to the company is being issued to establish a firm fixed price contract.
The purpose of the research and development is to qualify Mil-A-159D antimony trisulfide, a major component of primers for all center-fired ordinance, from sources in North America for the DLA Strategic Materials, National Defense Stockpile.
