Tesla Inc. will start taking orders for all-wheel drive and performance versions of its Model 3 electric car by the end of the week of May 14, according to a May 12 tweet by CEO Elon Musk.
Musk said production for the parts will begin in July and hinted at the possible introduction of Tesla's smart air suspension for Model 3 cars in 2019.
Model 3, which is worth at least $35,000, is manufactured at Tesla's factory in Fremont, Calif.
Tesla is aiming to produce 6,000 units of its Model 3 car per week by the end of June to achieve its target of 5,000 units a week.
