Denso Corp. on Sept. 26 said it would invest about ¥11 billion to expand a manufacturing plant in Hokkaido, Japan, in a bid to boost the production of semiconductor sensors.
The Japanese auto-parts maker said it would make the investment through 2025 and that the expansion would increase the number of jobs at the site to approximately 1,150. It did not say how many workers are currently employed at the facility.
Construction is expected to be completed in June 2021, with production slated to start in October that year.
As of Sept. 26, US$1 was equivalent to 107.66 Japanese yen.
