Mazda, Toyota form US-based JV

Toyota Motor Corp. and Mazda Motor Corp. will jointly manufacture vehicles via a new joint venture company, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing U.S.A. Inc., starting in 2021, according to a press release.

Based in Huntsville, Ala., the new plant is capable of producing 150,000 units of Toyota Corolla and 150,000 units of Mazda's crossover model which is set to be introduced to the North American market.

The facility will create as many as 4,000 jobs, which will receive a combined investment of $1.6 billion from Toyota and Mazda, equally split among each other.
