Baidu, Xiaomi partner on AI, internet of things

Chinese companies Baidu Inc. and Xiaomi Inc. have agreed to jointly develop consumer devices with artificial intelligence and internet of things technologies, the South China Morning Post reported.

The agreement aims to benefit both companies who are working on goals focusing on the development of AI technologies. Baidu is looking to become an AI-first technology company; Xiaomi has been developing smart devices and now has about 85 million connected devices.

The collaboration comes after Baidu launched its smart speaker, Raven H, and partnered with Microsoft Corp. to develop autonomous driving technology.
