Marico fiscal Q3 profit climbs 18.2% YOY

Marico Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to 1.04 Indian rupees per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 1.21 rupees per share.

EPS rose 18.2% year over year from 88 paise.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 1.34 billion rupees, an increase of 18.2% from 1.14 billion rupees in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 9.3% from 9.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 20.9% year over year to 14.49 billion rupees from 11.98 billion rupees, and total operating expenses increased 21.5% from the prior-year period to 12.35 billion rupees from 10.17 billion rupees.

Reported net income grew 18.1% year over year to 1.60 billion rupees, or 1.24 rupees per share, from 1.35 billion rupees, or 1.05 rupees per share.

As of Feb. 3, US$1 was equivalent to 61.67 Indian rupees.
