The Japanese arm of Seven & i Holdings Co. Ltd., Seven-Eleven Japan Co. Ltd., is set to roll out a smartphone app for online deliveries in as little as two hours, the Nikkei Asian Review reported May 12.
The company eventually plans to make the service available from all its 20,000 stores across Japan, the report said. The service enables users to place orders 24 hours a day; select delivery addresses and stores; and choose from 2,800 products, ranging from rice balls to bento lunch boxes.
The service had a soft launch at 25 stores in Hokkaido in northern Japan in October 2017, the report said. The convenience store chain plans to expand the service to 1,000 stores in Hokkaido by August 2019, it added.
