Sri Lanka has named Weligamage Don Lakshman as Central Bank of Sri Lanka governor following Indrajit Coomaraswamy's resigned Dec. 20, Bloomberg News reported.
Lakshman, whose appointment was affirmed by the director general of the president's media division, used to be an adviser to the government of Mahinda Rajapaksa, Bloomberg News said.
The former governor Coomaraswamy announced he was stepping down after the election victory of the South Asian country's new president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who named his brother Mahinda Rajapaksa as prime minister.
