The U.S. government ran a budget deficit of $215.25 billion in February, compared with a surplus of $49.24 billion the previous month, according to the latest budget statement from the Treasury Department.
In annual terms, February's budget deficit came in higher than the $192.04 billion shortfall in February 2017.
Total government outlays were $370.87 billion in February, against total receipts of $155.62 billion.
For fiscal 2018, the year-to-date budget deficit stands at $390.97 billion, with outlays and receipts totaling $1.677 trillion and $1.286 trillion, respectively.
