Saipem nabs $255M in onshore, offshore drilling contracts

Driller Saipem SpA announced Dec. 20 it was awarded new onshore and offshore drilling contracts amounting to US$255 million.

The onshore drilling contracts include projects in Argentina, Ecuador and Peru, while the offshore drilling contracts include projects in Mexico, Norway, Middle East, Pakistan and Indonesia.

These contracts will include fifteen wells in Mexico and an additional 13 optional wells under a contract with Eni Messico. One well will be drilled in Norway by 2019 for Eni S.p.A..

In the Middle East, Saipem's contracts were extended for jack-up drilling units, while another two contracts were awarded by Eni, One in Pakistan and One in Indonesia.

For the first nine months, Saipem recorded a net loss of €357 million, down from a net loss of €57 million for the same period last year.
