Honda Motor fiscal Q3 profit falls YOY

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, came to ¥61.38 per share, a decrease of 13.0% from ¥70.52 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥110.62 billion, a decrease of 13.0% from ¥127.10 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 0.8% from 3.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 9.9% on an annual basis to ¥3.617 trillion from ¥3.290 trillion, and total operating expenses rose 11.0% year over year to ¥3.454 trillion from ¥3.113 trillion.

Reported net income decreased 9.0% from the prior-year period to ¥124.19 billion, or ¥68.91 per share, from ¥136.52 billion, or ¥75.75 per share.

As of Feb. 5, US$1 was equivalent to ¥117.16.
