Report: WPP's Kantar attracts new interest from Advent, Blackstone, others

Advent International Corp. and Blackstone Group LP are among the latest buyout firms considering potential bids for a majority stake in Kantar, the data analytics unit of advertising group WPP PLC, Reuters reported, citing four sources with knowledge of the matter.

Other potential bidders are Hellman & Friedman LLC and CVC Capital Partners Ltd., the unnamed sources told the news agency. Another source said Bain Capital LP is also interested in making an offer and could later decide to partner with one of the other buyout firms.

Goldman Sachs is leading the sale process, which reportedly could value Kantar at up to £3.5 billion. The company has so far not attracted interest from industry players, the sources said. WPP sent out a confidential information package during the week of March 18 and expects nonbinding offers by April, one of the sources told the news outlet.

TPG, Apax Partners LLP, Bain and Cinven were earlier reported to have expressed interest in Kantar.

WPP, Blackstone, Advent and CVC did not comment on the matter. Representatives for Bain and Hellman could not comment immediately, according to the March 19 Reuters report.
