Shield fiscal Q2 profit climbs 13.3% YOY

Shield Corp. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, was 2.59 Pakistani rupees per share, an increase of 13.1% from 2.29 rupees per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 10.1 million rupees, an increase of 13.3% from 8.9 million rupees in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 3.0% from 2.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose year over year to 332.7 million rupees from 326.4 million rupees, and total operating expenses climbed on an annual basis to 312.1 million rupees from 305.5 million rupees.

Reported net income rose 65.8% from the prior-year period to 11.8 million rupees, or 3.03 rupees per share, from 7.1 million rupees, or 1.83 rupees per share.

As of March 2, US$1 was equivalent to 101.88 Pakistani rupees.
