Denso, BlackBerry unveil integrated digital cockpit system

Japanese auto-parts maker Denso Corp. and technology and security services firm BlackBerry Ltd. co-developed a human machine interface digital cockpit system named Denso Harmony Core.

The digital cockpit uses BlackBerry's QNX Hypervisor technology, which integrates human interaction with advanced software, according to a Sept. 11 release.

Subaru Corp. is the first automaker to ship vehicles fitted with the Harmony Core cockpit system, but other car manufacturers will be able to install the technology in new vehicle models from September this year.

The system will initially be available in the U.S. from autumn 2019 in the 2020 Subaru Legacy and Outback units.
