Washington Real Estate Investment Trust's board of trustees named Paul McDermott chairman of the board, effective May 31, following the diversified real estate investment trust's annual shareholder meeting.

McDermott replaces Charles Nason as chairman. Nason will become lead independent trustee, pending his re-election to the board.
