Kroger Co. said March 12 that it is expanding its partnership with San Francisco-based grocery delivery startup Instacart to deliver to more areas in 2018.
The Ohio-based supermarket operator currently delivers in 45 markets from more than 872 stores in the U.S. through Instacart and other delivery partners. The retailer said it plans to add 500 new pickup locations in addition to its existing 1,091 curbside pickup locations and stores in the country.
Kroger expects its partnership with Instacart to increase its same-day delivery offerings and boost its e-commerce reach.
The retailer started offering Instacart delivery in December 2017 at some of its stores in Washington and Oregon.
